When Mr. and Mrs. L approached us from Singapore, they had one clear vision in mind — a journey that would let them fall in love with Switzerland’s landscapes at their own pace. They wanted breathtaking scenery, fine food (especially cheese and chocolate), and the freedom to travel light — no heavy suitcases, no long train days, no stress.
As a Switzerland Travel Expert and Switzerland Travel System Excellence Expert, I knew exactly how to turn their dream into reality. What we designed wasn’t a typical “Grand Tour.” It was a 14-day symphony of scenic trains, mountain icons, and lakeside charm — reimagined for travellers who value comfort, rhythm, and depth.
Reimagining Switzerland’s Grand Tour
Switzerland’s legendary Grand Tour connects the country’s most iconic sights — alpine peaks, crystal lakes, vineyard terraces, and medieval towns — through a web of world-class panoramic trains. Yet the traditional versions can feel exhausting: eight-hour train rides, back-to-back sightseeing, and little time to truly pause.
At Epic Travel Designer, we wanted to change that.
We’ve crafted a 14-day slow travel experience featuring four of Switzerland’s eight panoramic trains — the Glacier Express, Bernina Express, GoldenPass Express, and Luzern–Interlaken Express — each segment handpicked for balance, beauty, and flow.
Unlike the standard 8-hour Bernina Express round trip that many travellers endure in a single day, our design transforms it into a leisurely one-way journey — leaving ample time to explore, dine, and rest along the way.
And instead of the full-day Glacier Express marathon, we showcase its most spectacular section — the route from Andermatt to Chur, where the train climbs the Oberalp Pass and glides through the Rhine Gorge, known as Switzerland’s own Grand Canyon. This way, our travellers experience the most breathtaking parts of the journey without the fatigue.
